How GraceWorks works for women and employers: who can join, what is free, how vetting and applications work, and what employers pay.

For women finding work

Who can join GraceWorks?

We welcome women seeking suitable work, including expectant and new mothers, women balancing childcare, pet care, household responsibilities or care for elderly relatives or family members with disabilities, and women returning after a career break. You do not need to be a mother, a caregiver or returning from a career break. No pregnancy, family, health or hardship disclosure or proof is required. Employer representatives, staff, sponsors and partners may be of any gender.

When can I browse roles and apply?

Everyone can browse and search every open role. To apply, create a free account, confirm your email and send your profile to GraceWorks with your first application. Vetting can still be pending, and introductions can stay off. Free learning and public support stay open without a profile.

Is GraceWorks really free for me?

Creating a profile, using the CV builder, being vetted, getting feedback, applying and being hired are always free. You will never pay to be seen by an employer. Optional extras carry a small fee: a human CV review (KES 1,200), one-to-one coaching at the price you choose (Supported KES 1,000, Standard KES 2,000 or Pay it forward KES 3,500: the same session at every price), coaching circles (KES 2,500) and mock interviews (KES 1,500). Anyone who needs one can ask for a sponsored place. Buying a service never affects how you are vetted or shortlisted. If anyone asks you to pay for a job you found here, do not pay, and tell us at info@graceworks.co.ke.

How is GraceWorks paid for?

Employers pay when we deliver, sponsors and donors fund growth, and optional extras for women are low-cost or sponsored. Read How GraceWorks is funded.

What does it mean that my profile is vetted?

Submit your complete professional profile for human review. Staff reviews the submitted evidence and sends a decision or feedback. Approved evidence may support suitable recommendations while valid; material changes need appropriate review. Current availability, work preferences and role suitability are checked separately. Grant standing recruitment permission once for suitable introductions to verified employers after professional approval and role-specific review. GraceWorks notifies you after every share. You can keep introductions paused while being vetted, browsing, applying or using support. Interviews and accepting a job remain your decisions.

What happens after I apply?

1. Interest received. Your exact submitted record reaches GraceWorks. A general note is optional. Expressing interest does not guarantee an introduction. 2. Professional and role review. Staff approves professional evidence separately from suitability for this role. Pending-review candidates can express interest. 3. Introduction checks. Standing recruitment permission, available status and human review are required before a new introduction. Notes and role answers stay with GraceWorks. 4. With the employer. GraceWorks shares a reviewed professional recommendation and permitted files, and notifies you. 5. Interview and offer. Interviews and job acceptance remain your own decisions. Follow updates or withdraw from your role journey. You can follow each step and withdraw in My roles. Complete and submit your current profile first; professional vetting may still be pending.

Who reviews my application?

Authorised GraceWorks staff reuse your exact submitted profile and evidence references. A general note is optional; useful role questions may be included. Applications express interest to GraceWorks. Notes and role-question answers stay with staff; employers receive reviewed professional introductions, never an unreviewed applicant inbox.

Will I hear back if I am not put forward?

Staff review feedback appears in your dashboard, with account updates where available. Employer not-progressing feedback is reviewed by GraceWorks before an appropriate summary is shared with you. Follow your role journey for the current status or ask for clarification.

Will my career break count against me?

No. Matching looks at your skills, the way you want to work and the hours you can offer. A gap in your CV is never part of the score, and you never need to explain private reasons for a break.

Who can see my profile and contact details?

Grant standing recruitment permission once for suitable introductions to verified employers after professional approval and role-specific review. GraceWorks notifies you after every share. You can keep introductions paused while being vetted, browsing, applying or using support. Interviews and accepting a job remain your decisions. Only permitted, reviewed file versions may be included in an introduction. Files can contain contact details even before the contact email field is released from the interview stage. Keep private family, health and support information out of professional summaries and files; ask GraceWorks to review a sanitised or explicitly approved employer-facing version. GraceWorks retains original uploads and never silently edits them. Employer access is limited to the exact approved files included in that introduction. Review exact profiles and withdraw one employer's access from My roles, or withdraw all access in sharing settings. Pausing new introductions leaves existing authorised access in place. Private support and coaching notes are excluded, and recruitment permission does not permit publicity, stories or identifiable sponsor access.

Can I withdraw an application?

Withdraw active interest from My roles or its role journey. Employer selection is not a hire. A recorded hire and valid financial records remain if you withdraw further profile access. Previously downloaded information cannot be recalled.

What happens after employer selection?

Selection means selected to proceed. Interviews require availability confirmation; offers require the candidate's decision on exact current terms. A hire is recorded after candidate agreement and employer confirmation of the same terms. Actual commencement is recorded separately. Selection, an offer and acceptance alone do not create a placement invoice.

Can I ask for mentoring or equipment while awaiting review?

Free mentoring and optional paid or sponsored services remain separate from recruitment. Availability and scheduling need confirmation. Response targets come from staffed settings or the case record and are targets, not guaranteed replies. Equipment, connectivity and accessibility requests are private and depend on assessed needs and actual available resources; a request, approval or funding is not delivery.

Does a remote role mean flexible hours?

Remote, hybrid, on-site or flexible work can each have fixed hours, meetings and required outputs. Check the role expectations: remote does not automatically mean flexible.

Does a recommendation mean I will get the job?

Recommendations help assess suitability; they do not guarantee work, income or candidate availability.

For employers

What does it cost?

Posting a role is free. Managed hiring has a KES 15,000 commitment fee per role, charged when GraceWorks starts the search and fully credited against the success fee when you hire. The success fee is 12% of first-year gross pay, minimum KES 30,000. Roles under 12 months, including fixed-term contracts and maternity cover, are 12% of total contract pay, minimum KES 20,000. Confirmed small businesses and NGOs pay a KES 10,000 commitment fee and 10% (minimum KES 25,000, or KES 15,000 for roles under 12 months). Employer prices exclude VAT (16%). You agree to these prices when you submit a role, and they stay fixed for that role once GraceWorks approves it. See employer pricing and How GraceWorks is funded.

When do I pay the commitment fee?

When GraceWorks starts the search. You agree to the price when you submit your role. When GraceWorks approves the brief, the role goes live, the search starts and the commitment fee is invoiced. It is fully credited against the success fee when you hire. The success fee is invoiced when you confirm the hire. Roles already approved keep their terms.

How are candidates vetted?

Authorised staff review submitted professional evidence, then assess suitability for your role against its current brief and functional work preferences. Pool approval alone does not establish availability or role fit. GraceWorks considers reviewed applicants and pool matches, and sources missing candidates under the agreed plan. For one hire, GraceWorks prepares a versioned shortlist of three suitable candidates. For several hires, delivery follows the agreed role-specific pool and batches. A shortage needs an honest sourcing plan or an acknowledged smaller delivery, not unsuitable filler. Employers cannot browse the general candidate pool.

What if you have no suitable candidates yet?

If suitable people are missing, ask us about sourcing and vetting for your brief. Scope, capacity and timing need confirmation.

Do you stay involved after the hire?

Our aim is to stay involved through inclusive onboarding and after placement. Contact the team about ongoing support; arrangements depend on confirmed capacity.

Is there a fee if I hire someone outside GraceWorks?

Any success fee and non-circumvention obligation follows the accepted service terms. Existing agreed services retain their conditions.

When do I get contact details and CVs?

Introductions use standing recruitment permission and staff approval. Permitted reviewed files may be included in the shortlist; they can contain contact information. The separate contact email field is released from the interview stage. Access remains subject to verification, team scope, withdrawal and retention. GraceWorks coordinates interviews; contact details do not establish candidate availability.

What if a hire does not work out?

Report a departure from your placement partnership or billing page. GraceWorks reviews actual commencement, the departure and your retained guarantee terms, then agrees the next action and any covered replacement scope with you. Free replacement if your hire leaves within 90 days (for contracts shorter than 6 months, within the first half of the contract). Your accepted terms govern coverage. An agreed covered replacement carries no further success fee and does not automatically restart the original guarantee.

How do I pay?

Pay by M-Pesa, card or bank transfer. Large success fees can be paid by bank transfer or in agreed instalments. Each invoice shows how to pay, with the invoice number as the reference.

Do I need to be verified?

Yes. Organisation verification and your authority to represent it are checked before candidate access. Roles and material brief changes still require independent GraceWorks review before publication. Verification is not inclusive-practice certification, and payment alone earns neither certification nor candidate access.

What is the Mother-Safe Employer Pledge?

A free, voluntary promise to the women you hire: no penalty for motherhood, no questions about family plans, leave with the right to come back, honest hours and work mode, pay shown, an answer for every candidate, support for nursing mothers. Your organisation's owner signs it under Company & team, and your open roles then show the Mother-Safe Pledge badge. It is your own promise: GraceWorks does not inspect it, and it does not change your price or your place in the queue. If a commitment is broken, GraceWorks can remove the badge.

For sponsors and partners

How can my organisation support GraceWorks?

Sponsors and grant makers fund the free side for women: CV reviews, coaching places, Growth Room courses, returner events, Her Story episodes and research. See the options and send us an enquiry, or give once. Read How GraceWorks is funded.

What does a return cohort include?

KES 300,000 (KES 15,000 per woman): a CV review, 4 coaching sessions and a mock interview for each of 20 women; vetting and introductions to suitable roles, always free for the women; a cohort report with no woman identifiable. It is invoiced after we agree it with you, and paid by bank transfer.

Does an enquiry or payment confirm a programme or event?

No. Scope, resources, staff availability and dates are confirmed with you before anything is arranged.

Can a sponsor influence who is shortlisted?

No. Sponsors and paid services never influence who is vetted, matched or shortlisted.

How is support recognised?

With your agreement, we thank active sponsors on our partners page and on the Growth Room course they fund.
